Robby Gordon’s Stadium Super Trucks continues to pick up momentum for the 2013 season, as numerous friends of Gordon continue to check out the new formula and the series celebrates broadcast partner NBC’s deal to televise Formula 1 next year and beyond.

Recently, many of Gordon’s former CART rivals and fellow Californians have been spotted checking out the trucks. Jimmy Vasser, co-owner of IndyCar team KV Racing Technology, checked out the truck earliest last week, while Gordon’s longtime friend and occasional NASCAR driver P.J. Jones helped test the vehicle in Parker, Arizona this weekend.

Also testing the truck was Arie Luyendyk Jr., son of two-time Indianapolis 500 winner Arie Luyendyk and former contestant on ABC’s “The Bachelorette.” Luyendyk Jr., who finished second in the 2002 Indy Lights championship and currently commentates that series’ races for NBC Sports, has opted to move on from reality television to focus on resuming his racing career.

Meanwhile, as NBC welcomes Formula 1 to its motorsports broadcasting family, SST suddenly becomes part of one of the most formidable networks to broadcast racing events. With FOX’s SPEED Channel likely to transition to an all-sports network within the next 18 months, the network was outbid for broadcast rights for the next four years. F1 now joins SST and IndyCar as an NBC motorsports property, while the network also features Sunday Night Football, the Stanley Cup Finals, and Notre Dame football among its other sports broadcasts.
